Friday - Part 2

On our ride home from the aquarium, Emma quickly fell asleep in the car.  We were trying to decide where to stop for lunch and decided to wait until we got back to Covington to stop.  I picked Longhorn because before she fell asleep she said she wanted chicken...plus I wanted a place where we could sit down & get a good lunch.  Emma woke up as soon as we stopped, said that she did want to eat some lunch, & was good as gold in the restaurant.

After lunch, we headed home & I promised Emma she could open her birthday present from Mom & Dad (our day at the aquarium & her big birthday party on Saturday were her other gifts!) First, we took a few posed pictures....

(Yes, she's winking in my picture....I think I need to fire my photographer! Just kidding!!!)

Then Emma got to open and play with her new Lalaloopsie doll named Jewel Sparkles - she's a princess with a tiara!

Emma decided she was good to dance with, so she insisted I help her put on my old ballet tutu from the first year I took ballet (I was 4-5).

I believe she likes both my tutu and her new doll.  It always makes you feel good when she decides she has to sleep with her new present :)

We picked up, cleaned a little, went to the grocery store, finished decorating, & worked on Henry's room the rest of the day getting ready for the big 3rd birthday party on Saturday!

Eventful Day at the Doctor

I had another post ready to go for today, but thought I should do a little updating on Baby Henry.  Yesterday & this morning, I noticed I was having some cramping, but thought maybe I just needed to use the bathroom.  I decided to go ahead and tell my doctor today at my normal appointment & she decided to do a culture & then to put me on the monitors, just to be on the safe side.

Cultures & "check" were both fine.  Once I was hooked up to the monitor & chilling for awhile, the doctor came in & I was having a little uterus activity (ie, very small contractions...) She decided we needed to start an IV to help smooth me out.  She came back again a little while later before the IV was started & I had had 2 higher intensity contractions... awesome.  She said we'd have to get this under control in the office or they'd send me down to the hospital.  She also mentioned that if they could, they would have given me a shot to help stop them, but they can only do the shot inpatient now.  Needless to say, the IV was started pretty shortly, & I had another larger contraction.  The IV did seem to work, although I still was having the small contractions, I was no longer having any larger contractions, so my doctor was pretty happy.  Baby Henry was doing great through all of this, with excellent heart rate and movement.

Verdict was that I may have been a little dehydrated.  I was told to drink lots & lots, & to take it easy.  I'm still cramping occasionally & having some small contractions, but no more larger ones.  Definitely a scare, but I should be fine as long as I behave myself!  I think I probably over did it last weekend with the birthday celebration, which tells me I need to be VERY careful with Cory & Courtney's wedding on Saturday.  Tonight, I've eaten dinner, took a bath, & now here I am with my computer & I'm drinking a glass of water.  I'll watch American Idol & just take it easy tonight, promise!

The Georgia Aquarium

To celebrate Emma's 3rd birthday, David & I took off work the Friday before her birthday & the three of us headed down to the Georgia Aquarium to check out the fish!

Emma loved checking out all the fish swimming around.

Daddy & Emma taking a little break....I think they're pretty cute!

Several tanks had a little tunnel where you could climb through & look at the fish in the tunnel.  This one Emma did all by herself - she was feeling pretty brave!

This is the best picture of Emma & me together...

She was kind of Daddy's girl because I couldn't pick her up for very long.... she's gotten too big, and so have I!!!

Playing on a mermaid.

We told Emma we could go back to see a couple fish again if she wanted.... and twice Emma insisted her daddy take her to see the Sting Rays. The Sting Rays were by far her favorite thing at the aquarium.  They were in a touch tank & were constantly surrounded by kids wanting to touch them.  Emma had no desire to touch them (if you got her too close, she clung onto you like a monkey), but she wanted to be near them all the time & watch them.  I think it also made her a little nervous that the other kids were touching them because she said she wanted to tell those kids not to touch!  What can I say, she gets her healthy fear of animals honestly :)

We had a great time at the aquarium with our big 3 year old girl!

Almost 3

Well, I made it through my 3 hour blood-glucose test..... and passed!  Four blood draws in 3 hours was not fun, not to mention fasting from midnight & eating a sugary drink!  I was so thankful I passed without any trouble.  David sat with me the full three hours & then we went to lunch at Chili's.  Just after I started eating, apparently my body hit rock bottom.  I got the shakes & was really sweating - I wasn't sure if I was going to pass out or throw up.  Thankfully, I did neither & my body regulated after that & I was ok, just weak the rest of the day.

This week we've been busily getting ready for somebody's big 3rd birthday. Little girl is VERY excited about her Princess Birthday Party on Saturday.  We're almost ready & I'm getting excited too :)  I hope she has a good time.

Tomorrow we're taking the day off work & spending the day with Emma.  We have a little activity planned - I will share pictures afterwards.  We're also very excited about tomorrow!

Next week we get ready for Uncle Cory & Courtney's wedding on Saturday!  Emma is the flower girl - I hope she does great!

Weekend & Week to Come

David left us on our own Thursday after dinner, to go up to his parents & leave for Carthage, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas for the weekend.  He & his dad went up to visit with his grandpa. They drove up Friday, stayed Saturday, and then came home Sunday.  David got home just before 8 last night - long weekend for him!

David's trip meant Emma & I were on our own this weekend! We did pretty good on Friday & then Saturday morning, we headed to my parents.  My mom had a shower on Saturday for my cousin David's fiancee Allie.  They are getting married in April.  We enjoyed the shower & spending time with Nanny, Papa, Nene, & Atchie. We spent the night with my parents & went to church with them on Sunday & then out to lunch.  Afterwards, we got packed up & came home.  Emma & I rested, unpacked, did laundry, & watched Netflix Sunday afternoon and evening. We were both very glad to see David when he got home.

Of course, the kiddo didn't sleep well the whole time David was gone, but last night she slept the whole night. Also, Emma reverted back to temper tantrums - not sure if it was because David was gone or if she was just tired.  I thought she might be getting sick & she still could, but so far so good.  Poor Mommy is getting too pregnant & tired, I was definitely dragging tail today at work. I could have definitely used another day to my weekend.  I'm going to try to behave myself this week & not do too much around the house, along with propping my feet up whenever I can.  I started swelling over the weekend, I'm hoping it's weather-related & not a sign of things to come (like it was with Emma).

Tomorrow morning, I have my 3 hour blood-glucouse test (I unfortunately failed the 1 hour) and then Wednesday morning I go for my regular appointment.  Please pray both appointments go well & that I don't have gestational diabetes.  I would rather not end up on bed rest already too, if possible. I will try to post how they both go - I'm hoping they'll have my 3 hour test results before my Wednesday appointment.

Busy Busy!

So we had a busy weekend! We went up to Marietta Saturday morning & enjoyed hanging out with Nanny for lunch & quick shopping.  Then Emma stayed with Nanny & Papa while David & I went on our Valentine's date! We went to Longhorn & had yummy steak. Sadly, the last time I think we had a "date" was before Christmas for our work Christmas dinner.... which seeing how we were with our co-workers, totally doesn't count. Needless to say, our date was LONG overdue.

We spent Saturday night with my parents & then went to Noonday Sunday morning & got to go to our Small Group.  Sunday afternoon, there was a shower for Cory & Courtney's upcoming wedding, so we stayed & headed home after the shower. It was a very nice party, the food was delicious, we enjoyed seeing lots of church family, & the bride & groom got some nice things too! :)

Unfortunately, Emma has a bit of an ear infection (thankfully it's getting better). I woke up Saturday morning with a sore throat & itchy eyes.  Needless to say, I have a full fledged cold now, I'm just hoping it doesn't turn into an ear or sinus infection.  I feel pretty good throughout the day, but mornings & evenings are bad. I just realized I'm out of benedryl - looks like I'll have to pick more up tomorrow.

So I was going to upload a few pictures of Emma eating a cupcake....but apparently I've reached my storage limit for this site! Whoops - that was quick!  At any rate, I'm going to have to remember how to link to my Shutterfly... until then, I apologize for the shortage of pictures. :)

Trying on Dresses!

It's no secret that Emma is a girlie girl.  She loves dresses, playing dress-up, shoes, & lots of accessories.

Cory & Courtney's wedding is quickly approaching, so I tried the flower girl dress on Emma to see if it needed altering.  She loved it :)

Sorry about the crazy wispy hair. I believe for the wedding she'll be wearing it down & have on a halo of flowers, if I remember correctly. Emma's dress is ivory and the bow is the same color the bridesmaids are wearing.

In order to get her out of that dress, I let her try on her Easter dress.  It was handmade by a lady at church and is soooo beautiful! It may be a little hard to tell from the pictures, but it's light blue.

She wouldn't sit still for a nice picture...

But seriously, a beautiful dress!!! I'm getting her 3 year pictures made in it too.

Love!!!

Emma loves the blue dress too & didn't want to take it off.  I was worried she'd mess it up & tried to explain it isn't a play dress... We ended up bribing her with wearing another dress in order to get the blue dress off.  Ahhh, the joys of a girlie girl - but you know I love it!!!
